In this chapter, the functions that are common to every type of resource and the operations that can be performed are described.
Save: Save the changes made to the resource form.
From Etere version EtereInstall_31.3.250.4988.zip or later, you can expedite the resource-saving process by activating the partial update with a combination of the "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + U" function keys. The partial update would read the INI file and save the modified resource with its resource ID (IDNEWRESOURCE_PARENT) found in the INI file. If the resource ID is not present in the file, all resources in the resource tree will be saved.
Cancel: Allows for undoing the last amendment made to the form.
Expand all: Each device form is split into key sections, and for each section, the menu can be expanded (pressing the '+' button to the left of the title, e.g. General) or collapsed (prompting the '–' button to the left). This tool automatically expands all sections to view all menus.
Collapse all: Automatically collapses all sections so that only titles are visible.
Notes: A window allows you to type notes relevant to the device in question in a simple text format.
Device Operations Log: This function allows you to document all relevant operations concerning the device in question (e.g. electrician called for the error message, electrician visit, etc). A window opens; you can right-click and select 'Add' to add a new operation. Select the date relevant to the operation and insert all relevant information in the description field. The 'DOMA' button lets you associate other documents with the operation.
Press "Save" and "Close" to view all operations listed in the Operation window (Date, Time operation inserted, Description and User – time and user are automatically inserted). To delete an operation, simply right-click on operations and select 'Remove' to delete the operation from the list.
Do.Ma. (Document Management): This function allows you to associate other virtual documents to the device in question (for example, the PDF of the user manual, the sales receipt and guarantee, etc):
• Add a file: Use it to associate a digital document; it is possible to:
1. Insert a description for the document and its content (if no description is inserted, the system will automatically insert the attached file's name).
2. Attach a document by selecting the paper clip icon; you can browse and select the relevant file.
3. Acquire a document from a scanner by clicking the scanner icon.
4. Save the file details (e.g. attaching date and time, description, document number, file type, logged user, further description and content details).
• Remove a file: It simply removes the attached file from the database.
• Add an existing file: This function allows associating a document already in the database (e.g. added for another object).
• View a file: It opens the selected document for viewing.
NB: Further information on this tool can be found in the Etere Do.Ma. Chapter.
View location: Open the Resources Map tool to allow viewing and modifying the allocation of devices within racks.
Ping Device: This function is only active if the device in question is on the LAN network and has an IP address configured. It allows you to connect to the device and check if it is alive.
NB: Additionally, the reference number of the resource will be displayed beside its name in the window title.
