208 Etere Data Mover

Etere is aware that the data movement is an essential part of the overall synchronization of a station because whether the used module is (i.e. Etere Automation, Etere Ingest, Etere Scheduling, EtereWeb, etc.), Etere knows, thanks to its workflow-based Etere Data Mover, what material is needed where and when and can control where the file needs to be.

Etere Data Mover is an application developed by Etere for managing the transfer of video files; this application moves files from one level to another entirely based on workflow rules. Etere Data Mover allows stations to copy video files from one video server to another, even if they are located in different remote locations.
Etere Data Mover

Etere Data Mover is based on media manager actions defined under Etere T-workflow; it moves video files based on several parameters (e.g. file type, airing time, target device, scheduled status, etc.) and includes other storage levels such as transcoders.

Etere Data Mover integrates Etere Transcoding to provide encoding/decoding between media formats, change video resolutions to meet lower resolution screens, convert bit rates to respect portable device's power constraints, etc, thus enabling delivery over different media, playback over various devices or generate proxy files (e.g. wmv, mov).

Moreover, Etere Data Mover provides distributed processing using an independent agent per data transfer and concurrent processing for simultaneously performing different instances of data transfer, allowing stations to exploit high computing resources using a single workstation to perform multiple transfers and thus enhance flexibility, scalability and fault-tolerance of the entire Etere system.
