72.7.3.10 Known Issues

This chapter records the problems encountered by customer pertaining to closed captions.

Issue # 1:
Empty packets in closed captions file
During the video clip playout, if there are empty packets embedded in the closed captions text during file creation, it would results in subtitles out of sync with the audio due to empty packets were unable to be decoded in time during the playout.

Workaround Solution:
The reported issue has been address if you had already installed with Etere released version 29.2.
If you are using earlier released versions, you can ignore / bypass the empty packets in closed captions file by setting the registry key “empty_cc.skip” to “True” in Windows Registry.

Issue # 2:
Error message “no video display” prompted on closed captions inserter when switching between Live event and scheduled event.

Workaround Solution:
In workstation where the Closed Captions inserter is connected, set the Windows Registry key “no-signal.enabled” to value “0” to bypass the “no video display” error message during events switch.

Issue # 3
When extracting CEA-708 standard subtitles in XML file there were few frames offset from previous subtitles.  It was due to CEA-708 subtitles not begun with CLW (ClearWindows) and DLW (DeleteWindows) caption commands merged with previous subtitles.

Workaround Solution
The reported issue has been resolved in “Etere.ClosedCaptions.dll” version 29.2.1.0
