59.3.13.12 Mpeg-dash

Etere is capable of creating MPEG-DASH segments for VOD delivery. In this section, it is possible to configure related parameters.

Creation Parameters 

Destination path: Local path where segments will be created and saved.
Segment duration: Duration for each segment created for the mpeg-dash

Delivery Parameters

Url: FTP address where segment will be uploaded
Username/Password: Credential used for the FTP authentication.

All the actions that will be used on the VOD T-Workflow are created automatically by System Maintenance. There are six different available actions with other purposes:

Delivery VOD Files: This action will manage all the contents related to Series, Seasons, Episodes, Movies, or Trailers, create segments on the local path and deliver them to the FTP destination. It is possible to choose if the action must use the encryption during the segment creation (0 or 1) or if the action must proceed with uploading (if 0, it will only create MMPEG-DASH segments on the local path).
Delivery VOD Image Files: This action will only manage media stored in Etere with specific codecs that have IMAGE as type. The process will retrieve locally and upload to FTP destination all the images related to Series, Seasons, Episodes, Movies or Trailers.
Delivery VOD Trailer Files: This action will only manage media stored in Etere as Trailers. It is possible to choose if the action must use the encryption during the segment creation (0 or 1) or if the action must proceed with uploading (if 0, it will only create MMPEG-DASH segments on the local path).
Delivery VOD Missing Files: After each upload process, the system automatically creates an XML reporting the full list of uploaded content. The 3rd party ingest process on FTP will send back to Etere an XML with a list of missing files so that the action can start uploading those specific files again.
Delivery Completed Check: With the 3rd party ingest process on FTP, this action checks if destination folders are empty after a predefined time. If yes, the delivery and ingest process have been completed, and the T-Workflow can be managed as it correctly ended.
Delivery VOD Metadata: This action will only manage metadata, so it will update all the content-related information (like EPG, Title, Genre, and Cast) without managing any media.
