Etere HSM allows to assign (under the Media: Servers section) to each drive a specific "scope" (archive and/or restore) which can vary across the entire day. The Check Drive Scope tool enables Etere Headquarters to use, when scheduling operations, the drives matching the scheduled operation; checking during the entire day all queued operations and re-scheduling them on drives different from those initially assigned and that have changed scope" in the meanwhile.
In this way, the Check Drive Scope tool makes some common operations such as Free, Re-catalogue and Defrag to function also as restore-equivalent operations.
