59.3.9.52 HSM Restore

Action Description
The "HSM restore" action allows requesting Etere HSM Headquarters to download all the clips which have a specific type of codec from the selected asset form in the path previously set on HSM.

For detailed information and examples on how to use this action, please refer to the Workflow archive / restore operations section of the Etere HSM chapter.

Suggestion
To increase the reliability and security of the restoring process, it's strongly suggested to include the following actions in your restore workflow:

After the file is restored
Use an MD5 Check action to verify the MD5 consistency of the file stored in the HSM Cache. Depending on the result, perform one of the following actions:
•MD5 is ok: The T-workflow can go on normally
•MD5 is not ok: The file can be removed from the restored location, and an alert can be sent to the supervisor

Note:
T-workflows containing HSM restore actions can be consulted and monitored from Etere HSM Headquarters under the dedicated "workflows" section.

Action Parameters
To create this action, we must name the action and select the codec of the files, which will be restored by filling in the following data:

Parameters
Name - Insert a short descriptive name for the action (e.g. "Restore proxy from tape")

Select codecs - Select the extensions (i.e., codecs) that files in the archive must be restored.

Select source media pools - This parameter allows the restoration of files from a selected media pool.

In the workflow, you can create two HSM restore blocks, first read from Main Mediapool followed by Backup Mediapool; it would prevent interruption to the restore workflow when the Main Mediapool is unavailable.

Select destination meta device - Specify "Disk Archive" in this parameter to restore asset data into the HSM Disk Library. HSM Disk Library is a virtual library without a cache; the data would be restored directly into the destination path.

NB: Restoring assets directly into an ETX video server is not allowed.

Priority - Select between 'high', 'normal' and 'low'; the focus with this action should be executed.

Select the HSM server to perform restore - Specify the server that manages the library from which the file must be restored.

This parameter is useful when two or more libraries are used (see HSM predefined restore).

How to use it
For information on using "HSM Restore" actions, refer to the "HSM Workflow Operations" chapter.

NB: If the T-workflow failed to restore specific files to the database, you could use the Archive Manager in Media Library to restore the files / single file to fulfil the restore operation.
