Resource Configuration

59.6.2.118 K2 resource editor - Channel

From here, it is possible to configure a single channel. The first part is just descriptive, whereas the second part allows setting the K2 channel's connection and use mode:

READ-ONLY INFO
Code - Shows the path for the edited resource.
Type - Shows the resource type (i.e. K2).
Number - Ordinal number that differentiates the resource from others of the same type.

CHANNEL INFORMATION
Name - Brief description identifying the edited resource (in this case, a "CH-number" channel suffix is added).
Driver - Select the driver to be used to command the channel. Available communication drivers for the GVM resource are:
•AMP
It stands for Advanced Media Protocol, an Odetics protocol extension.
Each serial is connected to a decoder or encoder using this driver. It would be possible not to set the channel, but you need to set this parameter to recognize the channel in the resource tree. Thus, if an encoder is connected, set VideoIn to 1 and VideoOut to 0, and vice versa.
•AMPIP
It stands for Advanced Media Protocol via IP, an extension of the Odetics protocol.
With this driver, every channel is connected to a decoder or an encoder, so there would be no need to set up the channel, but such a setting is needed to recognize the channel type in the resource treeview. Therefore, if an encoder is connected, set 1 on VideoIn and 0 on VideoOut and vice-versa.
•Channel identifier: When using AMPIP protocol with Ethernet, channels are consistently identified as 'VTR1', 'VTR2', etc. Indicate HERE the device channel to which this logical channel corresponds.

This parameter needs to be configured in the correct order (e.g., VTR1 for the 1st channel, VTR2 for the second and so on). Otherwise, channels won't work correctly.
❑ CueToSom: If the device is a Video Server, with one of the above drivers (AMP/AMPIP) selected, enable this option to automatically cue from the first physical frame in the clip to load the zero-based clip ("00:00:00.00"") even if the SOM is not zero-based.
Codec - Indicate the codec with which video is managed by the device channel (default=K2).
E19 Resource ID - Optionally, insert the ID of the resource channel created under the Resource Editor module for this resource.

CHANNEL PARAMETERS
Channels- Video IN - Indicate the input channel no. If you want to use them, remember they start from no. 1 (0=not used). The input channel is usually indicated only if you have to record in K2.
Channels - Video OUT - Indicate the output channel no. You want to use, keeping in mind that they start from no. 1 (0=not used). The output channel has to be indicated if you want to see the video files recorded in K2.
E/E - Besides, you can set the E\E for each channel. This is useful for systems without an automatic E\E. While recording, this allows you to simulate an E\E via software with a possible connected router, sending the source exit (VTR) to the monitor during the REC phase and returning the video server exit to the monitor during the PLAY phase.
Macro - If set, macro commands will be used if the video file is shorter than 5 seconds.

Read the Imagine protocol and videoserver manuals for further info about macro commands.
Proxy address - If you have a proxy video acquisition card directly connected to the channel, set the IP address relative to the PC where the card is (e.g., 195.122.231.145).

The value of the local port must be included between 6501 and 6509
If you do not have such a card, or if the card is not fixed to the channel, leave the two boxes blank.

K2 resource editor - Channel User
After the resource is assigned to a user and a module, other data must be set:

READ-ONLY INFO
Resource - Code of the resource channel.
Name - Name of the resource channel.
ID Number - Identification number of the resource channel.

USER INFORMATION
PC Name - The specific workstation (user) for which the resource will be allowed. Once selected, it will be automatically retrieved and displayed the ID number and PC name corresponding to the selected user.

Function - Indicate the module (function) on which the user mentioned above will be allowed to use the resource in question

USER PARAMETERS
Com no. - Indicate the com number of the PC that the device is connected to.
Com configuration: - Available configurations include: Baudrate (default=38400), Parity (default=Odd), Databits (default=8) and Stopbits (default=1).
The resource must be set with the default data displayed here.

Router
Input: Indicate the router output channel the resource input is connected to (-1=not installed)
Output: Indicate the router input channel the resource output is connected to (-1=not installed)
Monitor: Indicate the router output channel to which the prospective monitor is connected. (-1=not installed)
422
Device (out): Indicate the no. of the device to be activated when you open the resource.(-1=not installed)
Controller (in): Indicate the no. of the controller to be activated when you open the resource.(-1=not installed)
NB: Only in exceptional cases where you have a centralized video router, which also allows one to commute serial ports, set the data referred to above to 422.
