The Edit menu holds the main functions to modify and manage events within the schedule. These functions are:
New (Ins): Search and select an asset to be inserted (scheduled) into the playlist.
Insert event with the same external code: Search and select an sset to be insertd (scheduled) into the playlist, with the same external code as the currently selected event.
This feature is useful to, for example, automatically apply the snipes of an event to a new one.
Delete (Del): Removes the scheduled performance of the asset (not the asset itself).
If you intent to delete an empty space in the schedule, the EMPTY rights in OBJECTS types permissions must be set to "Allowed".
Cut (Ctrl-x): Puts the selected event into the clipboard and removes it from the playlist.
Note: Moving events already transmitted requires supervisor rights.
Copy (Ctrl-c): Puts the selected event into the clipboard.
NB: When a Live event is “copy and paste” between schedules, the external code field which contains the reconcile key for all segments in the Live event, would also be copied to the new instance.
Paste (Ctrl-v): Paste the last copied/cut event.
NB: When a Live event is “copy and paste” between schedules, the external code field which contains the reconcile key for all segments in the Live event, would also be pasted to the new instance.
Rename code (F12): Change the code of the asset linked to the selected event (on current and future schedules).
New Separator: Inserts a break line on the current active schedule row.
The inserted separator is set at "1 minute" duration, you can right-click and use one of the option below to change the separator duration accordingly to avoid empty space between events:
• Fill to next: Use this option to adjust the separator duration to the “Start Time” of next event.
• Fill to next scheduled time: Use this option to adjust the separator duration to the “Start Time” of next scheduled event.

PREVIEW
Set of functions that allows previewing an scheduled event (either before or after airing). The Preview function would check and rectify the DLL objects in current directory path during start-up to ensure the Preview is launched rightfully for the selected media file.
HIRES
Full resolution with Etere Player - Preview the hires file using the Etere Player. In case multiple hires files are linked to the event, the user will be prompted to select one.
Notes:
- Requires the system to have a Etere Player license.
- Also available by double-clicking on the media icon of an event.
- Using EterePlayer2022 is possible to take advantage of the following functions:
* In case of preview from Schedule, the airing time is displayed.
* At the top right, the Aspect Ratio is displayed.
* If you set the CTL counter, it no longer becomes red if the player is outside the marks.
EP2022_enhancements_EE
Full resolution SDI - Completely or partially preview the hires file stored in the video server using the Full Resolution Preview (with the device's SDI decoder).
Full resolution SDI with jog & shuttle - Preview the hires file stored in the video server using the SDI Player (with the device's SDI decoder), with accurate frame positioning.
PROXY
Proxy - Preview the proxy file using the proxy player set for its codec. If the event has subtitles, they'll be automatically displayed.
Proxy with Logos - This function allows to preview ETX graphic objects along with the video. It runs on Windows 10 and is able to preview H264 file (MP4). The preview manages the following primary events of the schedule:
1) Timecode
2) Variable
3) Live (BLUE background)
4) Events with Bumper transition (BLACK background during transition duration)
5) Events with missing file (GREEN background)
6) Events with unreachable files (RED background)
7) Empty spaces (YELLOW background)
The preview can be performed on following types of secondary events:
1) Automation logos: Logo1, Logo2, Logo3, Logo4
2) Automation CG/Crawl
3) Stman Secondary objects: Fixed, Scripts, Current event and Next event.
If you need to search where the logos are stored, use the following query command to detect the paths to the logos:
“exec dbo.etx_getpaths -1”.
(This preview replaced the obsolete PDRIVER preview.)
When "Proxy with logos" is activated, you can change the codec priority in order to choose Proxy files or High resolution files.
NB: If the specific ETX resource is not found, any available ETX resource in the Resource Configuration would be used for preview.
To preview with logo for non-ETX graphics object and STMAN objects, a script string (also referred as CTM, which is the acronym for Custom Transitions Template, it contains a string of commands sent to device, e.g. logo generator) named “Preview bitmap” has been assigned to “Fixed Logo” and “CG/Crawl” logo generator to preview non-ETX graphics and STMAN objects as static logo.
During the preview, the bitmap image would be saved as .PNG (portable network graphic) format and its black background colour would be converted to transparent. In the preview, the on-air start time counter is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
On-Air Review - Preview the memory file recorded by Etere Memory,
Note: Available only for already transmitted events.
In order to preview in/out fades defined for an event, just open the fade secondary event.
If the Preview window is opened in Executive Editor, you are advised to close the Preview before you exit from Executive Editor, it would prevent some abnormality in functioning. For instance, when you are saving the set time code of asset in Preview and close Executive Editor without first close the Preview window, the time code of the asset is saved taken from the last value in the Preview instead of the set time code.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Edit some of the most relevant event properties including its actual date and time, scheduled date and time, code and description, actual duration and timecodes, scheduled duration, and technical notes.
Media Library (F7): Opens the media library to view and/or amend the asset linked to the event.
Secondary events: Give access to the following functions:
Edit - Open the Secondary Events editor to view and add secondary events to the selected primary event.
Cut/Copy/Paste - Allows copying/cutting and pasting the secondary events associated to the selected primary event to other events.
Auto recording: In the current asset - By selecting this function, the selected Live secondary event would be scheduled for auto recording in the current asset. This function can also be triggered using the control keys “Shift + Ctrl + R”.
The selected event would be added to Auto Ingest section to be automatic ingest by Etere Scheduled Ingest module. The function is applicable for Live event only.
Properties: This function allows to view and also modify the "on-air properties" (i.e. logos/crawls, event type, routers, etc.) of the event's related asset.
Ad Insertion: With this option you can allocate events to the appropriate pre-configured networks (Etere Configuration > Settings > Basic > Ad Insertion), consult Ad Insertion schedules for a detailed explanation.
Event type: As explained before (Properties | Event Type), this option allows you to change the event type to 'Fixed' (Ctrl-F), 'Manual' (Ctrl-M), 'Fixed/manual' (Ctrl-G), 'Variable' (Ctrl-L), 'Variable/manual' (Ctrl-N), or 'Timecode' (Ctrl-T) as by default. You can also select ‘Fixed group’ to fix a group of events. Refer to “Event Type” topic in MAM module for more information.
Fill to next: This option, which is available only for live events, eliminates blank spaces present after a live event, this by tying its actual end-time to the actual start-time of the immediately next event.
Fill to next scheduled time: This option, which is available only for live events, eliminates blank spaces present after a live event, this by tying its actual end-time to the scheduled start-time of the immediately next event.
Update duration (F4): Updates the selected event with the media data (File, SOM, EOM, Duration) retrieved from the media library.
Futher considerations:
• Updating live events included in a multi-selection will depend on whether the "Run update duration also for live events" option is enabled or not in "Configuration > Settings > EE".
• This function doesn't update exploded events, for that purpose it's suggested to use the F8 (explode all break points) function that re-explode events with up-to-date durations.
• This function import duration and logical marks from assets to update the asset duration, it is not supported to work on transmitted events.
• To change the event duration, the asset quality value must be greater than or equal to the value set in Notify events with video quality lower than parameter in Schedule Parameters > Automation settings.
Note: This function is also available as a workflow action for an automatic update of all asset scheduled performances.
Update durations and Secondary events (F6): Updates the selected event with the media data (File, SOM, EOM, Duration) and secondary data (e.g. Logo, Character Generator, GPI, Transitions, Event type, etc) retrieved from the media library. This function is useful in the following cases:
- To make the information of a scheduled event equal to the one in the media library
- To update streaming events inserted into the schedule during their ingestion
- To update recorded events which have been scheduled when they were not yet recorded
- To retransmit a schedule that has already gone on-air
Futher considerations:
• Updating live events included in a multi-selection will depend on whether the "run update duration also for live events" option is enabled or not in "Configuration > Settings > EE".
• If the event is not a LIVE, this function overwrites the event type in the schedule with the one set in the asset form, only if the event is originally set as Variable, Manual or Timecode.
For example: an ASSET has the event type set as Timecode, while the related EVENT in the schedule is set as Variable\Manual. In this case this function WILL NOT update the event type.
Instead, if an ASSET has the event type set as Timecode, while the related EVENT in the schedule is set as Manual, the event's type will be updated to Timecode.
• Updating exploded events will depend on whether the "When launching F6, also perform F8 for exploded events" option is enabled or not in "Configuration > Settings > EE", this, because executing the F8 (explode all break points) function is needed to re-explode events with up-to-date durations.
Note: This function is also available as a workflow action for an automatic update of all asset scheduled performances.
Explode: The explode function allows to divide an event into different parts so commercial breaks can be inserted between parts. As explained in the Exploding events chapter, this function allows to explode: "all break points", "hypothetical segments", "all the visible segments", "only selected visible segments" or "into custom parts".
Implode: Launch this function to put together all exploded segments of an event, this by selecting the first exploded segment. Available functions are:
All break points - Puts together all exploded segments. In this case, the duration of the imploded event will be the scheduled duration of the asset.
All necessary break points - Puts together all exploded segments which are contiguous, that is, which are consecutive within the schedule. In this case, the duration of the imploded segments will be the sum of their durations.
Asset check: If previously set, allows you to view if the asset of the current event has been checked or must still be checked.
Insert special commercials in the event: This function is used when there is a particular type of commercial embedded into an event, but as it is part of the event, it does not have its own properties. For example if during a live show the host launches into a telesales pitch. It is part of the event, but it needs to be counted for commercial crowding purposes. This is configured in Configurations/Settings/Types choosing Commercials and under properties you can select Embeddable.
Note: Embedded commercials 'acquires' the media files associated to the event which contains it as well as its secondary events.
Remove the special commercial contained in the event: Removes the aforementioned Embeddable commercial from the event.
Audio mapping: You can set the audio mapping by selecting the input channels and output channels.
There are total of 8 input channels can be embedded in video or additional channels, where output channels are available from E1 to E4.
Change live channel: In case the current event is a live, this option allows to select the channel from which its feed signal will be received.
Change the automation media: Based on what media is available on the asset linked to the event in question, you are able to change the media used in automation.
Aspect Ratio Conversion: Change the following aspect ratio parameters for the selected event (i.e. asset scheduled instance):
Source format (aspect) - Specify the aspect ratio with which the asset is recorded in the media archive. The Source format will be displayed in the schedule under the aspect column.
Conversion type (SD/HD) - Specify the ARC conversion profile to be performed (by an embedded or external converter) for the current asset. Available SD/HD conversion profiles depend on the asset's source format (set above).
The SD/HD conversion will be displayed in the schedule under the properties column.
Enabling the "update also the asset" option will change the aspect ratio parameters besides on the current event also on the related asset (Media Library > Properties > Video).
Note: Source formats and conversion types are configured in Configuration > Settings > Aspect Ratio Conversion. Configuration and management is explained in How to use aspect ratio conversions chapter.
Load to VTR: Under this menu, the following functions regarding the manual playout using a VTR feature will be available:
Automatic play from... - This function allows to automatically play back scheduled events -besides than on the video server- also on a VTR device, thus serving as a backup resource for increasing the redundancy and fault-tolerance of the playout system. Actually, this function performs the following actions:
1. Loads the event time code into the VTR, that is, the VTR is placed at the event's mark-in,
2. Puts the VTR in cue until the scheduled time of the event, that is, it cues the tape to the correct frame,
3. At the event's scheduled time*, the automation will automatically put the VTR in play.
4. At this point, in case the automation fails, the operator will be allowed to manually switch the router to the appropriate VTR channel.
(*) The event's scheduled time is retrieved from the scheduling playlist (i.e. tpalinse) and not from the automation playlist (i.e. tpal); therefore, in case the automation operator performs a "skip" after an event was loaded on a VTR, it will be required to wait the scheduling playlist to be updated with the new times to then manually reload the event on the VTR.
Emergency play from... - This function allows to use a VTR device to overpass a possible playout emergency (e.g. missing event media, video server fault, unsuccessful event cue, etc) and thus avoid a black-on-air, this, by performing the following actions:
1. The selected event is set as a 'Live" (i.e. unrecorded event which is transmitted from a live source),
2. Loads the event time code into the VTR, that is, the VTR is placed at the event's mark-in,
3. Puts the VTR in cue until the scheduled time of the event, that is, it cues the tape to the correct frame,
4. The operator publish (F9) the broadcast playlist to update the playout information on the automation server,
5. At the event's scheduled time, the automation puts the VTR in play and switches the router to the related VTR channel (set in the legacy resources).
Change with another event: Replace the current selected event with another one retrieved through the 'Asset Search' window.
Change type: Change the type of the selected event in the schedule ONLY, that is, just for the selected broadcast instance. This function is useful in case the operator wants to display in the Remote Control Panel the time remaining for the transmission of a certain scheduled event which type doesn't form part of the ones enabled for the type-based automation checking, this, by changing its type into one of the activated ones.
Recalculate on-air time from this position (Ctrl-R): Makes the schedule recalculate the on-air time from the first event in the import schedule should there have been any amends to the schedule that may have affected the on-air time.
Document management: Launches the Etere Document Management application which allows to associate digital files to the current selected event, 'virtual documents' can be consulted at any time through the search module of the said application.
Select events: Select all events present on the scheduled matching a specific criteria:
• All events of the same type,
• All events belonging to the same group,
• All events of the same type in a time interval,
• All events belonging to the same group in a time interval,
• Select all events of the same asset,
• Select all events of the same asset in a time interval,
• Select all events filtered by code
• Select all events filtered by code within a time interval,
• Select all (Ctrl-A),
• Show only selected events OR Show all events (Only one of them can be enabled, displaying either, only currently selected events of all events).
This function is useful to, for example, apply macro secondary events to a group of events.
Note: In order to undo any action just press the "CTRL+Z" keys combination, it will open the Operation Log form.
