Etere is aware that the data movement is an essential part of the overall synchronization of a station. Thanks to its workflow-based Media Manager Service, it is able to determine where a material is needed and when, performing the necessary operations to ensure the general functioning of the system.
Media Manager Service (MMS) is the new Etere service which allows a complete management of video files, with all the advantages of a client-server architecture.
This feature replaces the old Etere Data Mover (which is now EOL) and it proved to be more reliable and faster. In addition, the Software as a Service is easily deployable in physical or virtual environments such as any private or public Cloud.
Etere Media Manager Service moves files from one level to another entirely based on workflow rules. It allows stations to copy video files from one video server to another, even if they are located in different remote locations.
Media Manager Services
Etere Media Manager Service is based on media manager actions defined in Etere Configuration > Configuration editor > T-workflow > Actions; it moves video files based on several parameters (e.g. file type, airing time, target device, scheduled status, etc.) and includes other storage levels such as transcoders.
Integrating Etere Transcoding, it provides encoding/decoding between media formats, change of video resolutions to match with lower resolution screens, convertion of bit rates to respect portable device's power constraints and more, thus enabling delivery over different media, playback over various devices or generation of proxy files (e.g. wmv, mov).
Moreover, it allows distributed processing using an independent agent per data transfer and concurrent processing to perform different instances of data transfer simultaneously, allowing stations to exploit high computing resources using a single workstation to perform multiple transfers, thus enhancing flexibility, scalability and fault-tolerance of the entire Etere system.
