84.2.6.16 Backup VTR - What is it?

The Executive Editor application provides operators with the possibility of broadcasting contents directly from a VTR independently from the Automation real-time controller; the 'VTR for manual playout' function, which can be useful in case of any failure on the playout system (e.g.: automation, video server, or an operator fault), ensuring the continuity of the transmission. Etere knows that VTR's counts historically with a good reputation among operators as a reliable system since it is an 'always available' and 'easy to use' device.

The 'VTR for manual playout' feature is available only from the Executive Editor scheduling application and not from the automation module (because in case of an automation fault it will not be available anyway). The most relevant advantages of this feature includes:
• Independency, it is completely independent of the automation system to ensure a complete reliability in case of an automation failure,
• Simplicity, it can be used for any operator due to its wide diffusion and easiness,
• Assisted, it helps the operator to be 'aware' of the running video by providing a graphical and user-friendly interface,
• Integration, it can be combined with the object reel production to have a complete backup system of up to three VTR's.
