Resource Configuration

59.6.2.346 Sony - Sony DVS-V1616 resource editor

The information displayed in the first part is merely descriptive and shows previously assigned data:

•Code: The path of the resource that you are editing is displayed
•Type: Shows the resource type
•Number: Indicates the ordinal number that identifies that resource in case others of the same type coexist.
The user must enter the following information:
•Name: Description of the resource you are editing.
•Driver: Fixed DVSV1616
•Model: Choose among the available ones
If the model is not included in the list, choose GENERIC and indicate the number of Inputs and Outputs of the model you have (this is the only case you have to set these parameters).
•Config: Indicate the router address set in the internal DIP switch (default value: 1)
•Channel's number: Insert the number of the router's inputs and outputs.
•Router switching levels: Some routers allow the determination of switching levels, that is, defining what has to be switched (Audio only, Audio and Video, Video only, serial port, etc.). If your router offers this option, levels can be set here. In Etere, you have three kinds of switching: AUDIO/VIDEO, SERIAL PORT, and TIMECODE and for each, you can determine the levels to be installed.

Example: if, on your router, Video corresponds to level 1 and Audio corresponds to level 2, you must activate levels 1 and 2 in the AUDIO/VIDEO box; if switching a possible serial port corresponds to level 4, activate level 4 on the SERIAL PORT box.
(if your router does not offer this possibility, leave all levels installed)

Notes:

The router is controlled via a 422 serial connection that is also used for Sony Beta vtrs (SMPTE 207 SONY standard)
BNC REMOTE 1 need 75 ohm terminating resistors.

The router control port for serial connection is marked REMOTE 2
Opening the router front panel, you see three boards:
# the first (from the top) has a PAL/NTSC selector on the right
# the last has:
- 2 DIP switches (8 switches) on the left. The 2nd (UNIT ADDR) determines the router address: it must be set on ON1 only as far as the eight switches are concerned, while all the others must be left to OFF. This way, an address is given to the router, which can go from 1 (1st switch) to 8 (last switch). In the resources parameters, set the address corresponding to the selection on that DIP switch (from 1 to 8).
- 1 DIP switch (2 switches) on the right. The right switch (M/S) must be set on M.

Sony DVS-V1616 resource editor - User

After indicating which user and which software the resource has to be installed for, you have to set other data:

Com port setting:

The video router can be controlled directly through a serial connection (in this case, you have to set the com number) or through UDP with the ETERESARVAJI software (in this case, you have to indicate the IP address of the PC that EtereSarvaji runs on and the Local Port which EtereSarvaji uses).

Com configuration:

The com is configured in a fixed way with the following parameters:
Baud: 38400
Parity: Even
Stop bits: 1
Data bits: 8

Backup Router
If you wish to manage another router as the Backup router, activate this option, insert com data, or leave the option blank.
The backup router must be completely THE SAME as the main one.
