59.6.1 Etere Resource

In broadcasting, a resource is any hardware equipment connected to one or more PCs in a network, and they could be video servers, routers, VTR, video mixers, cart machines, archive libraries, character generators, GPI cards, audio cards, etc. Every resource added to a network needs to be configured for each PC that will access it and for every Etere module that will manage it.nEtere's resources management approach looks after a fully monitored editing and viewing of resources, and it is composed of two applications:

•Resources Editor allows multiple devices to be configured and added to a network, building up a system map that will enable you to visualize exactly how each device is interconnected. This advanced management tool also allows you to set rules to govern which appliances you can use for certain operations.

•Monitoring Console allows you to view your system map as a whole; it will enable you to localize your view to specific areas; it allows you to perform a search to find where a particular device is located on the plan and which Pc is currently using that device; it allows you to colour code active connections that will automatically 'light-up' when in use and much more.
