In order to start restoring assets via T-workflow (e.g. from federated libraries) just follow the simple procedure described below:
1. In Etere Configuration > Configuration Editor > T-Workflow > Actions create either a template-based on the HSM-related actions:
Workflow Actions Editor
HSM archive actions:
HSM Restore - Command the HSM Headquarters to restore a certain file (e.g. MP4) from a specific library server (e.g. Petasite_Miami) containing the file's related tape.
Other actions:
Asset File Delete in HSM - Remove an asset file archived on HSM tapes.
Asset File Exists in HSM - Check if an asset file is archived on HSM tapes.
Asset File is online in HSM - Check if an asset file archived on HSM tapes is available for being restored.
This action is useful to prevent intervention during HSM Restore, e.g. an operator without access rights granted to HSM Headquarters is able to acknowledge and respond to tape injection requests via workflow log.
2. In Etere Configuration > Configuration Editor > T-Workflow > Designer section to define a T-workflow containing the previously created action:
T-Workflow Designer
MD5 Checksum
It's strongly suggested to increase restoring reliability and security by including MD5 actions in your restore T-workflow:
Restore T-workflow:
HSM>>HSM Cache>>MD Archive(check the MD5 on cache after file is archived)
After the file is archived
Use a MD5 Check action to verify the MD5 consistency of the file stored in the HSM Cache, taking a decision according to the check result:
•MD5 is ok: The T-workflow can go on normally
•MD5 is not ok: The file can be removed from MD Archive, and an alert can be sent to the supervisor
NB: The check is done after restoring because deleting a wrong file is faster than waiting for check completion.
3. Associate the T-workflow to the asset intended to be restored. For example, from the Media Library > Workflow tab:
Media Library 1
4. Etere HSM Headquarters will receive the request according to the 'workflow check' interval set under the Configurations > Options menu, under the 'Scheduling' tab:
Etere HSM - Headquarters
5. Etere HSM Robotics will restore the requested asset from the media pool in which it's archived.
NB: If the metafiles archived into tape are damaged during the restore operation, an entry would be written in workflow log indicating that “HSM archived copies are into tapes marked unusable”.
6. Once the asset has been restored, it will be available in the Media Library:
Media Library 2
7. When restoring large files to database, you can insert a “Wait for time” action in workflow to defer the restoration of large files overnight or during non-peak hours to fully optimize system resources.
8. During the restore operation, if the content in tape does not match the file information in database (e.g. no valid header found on tape), a “re-catalogue” function would be launched automatically to realign the information in database before proceed with the restore. The “Re-catalogue” function cannot be bypassed or deactivated.
NB: During HSM restore, if the required tape media is located in “IE port” the tape would be marked as “Offline” and indicated in the workflow log. You can include a “HSM File Online” action in the restore T-workflow to check the tape located in IE Port and trigger a notification message to alert the operator.
