202.2.6.1 Make-Good Spots

In the broadcast industry, the term make-good embrace all those spots provided -without cost- by a station to its customers as a compensation for those purchased spots which did not run as scheduled in their proposals. Make-good spots allows stations to comply with advertising proposals which have been telecast differently from what was expected (e.g. short exposure time, preempted broadcast) or not telecast at all.
Etere allows not only to schedule but also to invoice Make-good spots (along with the notes detailing their causes), thus allowing customers to reconcile the number of purchased spots with those actually transmitted.

Preliminary Settings
Before scheduling make-good spots, in order to include them in invoices, make sure that parameters listed below are enabled in the Etere Configuration > Settings >Air Sales > Invoicing section:

•Invoice only order lines with assigned amounts (make good spots are compiled with a non-empty amount equal to zero)

•Invoice free order lines
(make good spots are scheduled as 'free' events)

•Invoice lines with amount different from zero (make good spots will be invoiced whilst other 'free events' will be ignored).

Moreover, the 'group invoices of different stations by customer' parameter can be optionally enabled to print in consecutive order all invoices generated for a customer across all the stations.

Creating Make-Good Spots
Under the Air Sales > Sales > Proposal > Scheduled section, make-good spots can be created for any proposal by adding a [New] proposal line including the same information (i.e. scheduling type, times, duration, etc) of the proposal line to be 'made good' BUT change its 'price calculation mode' parameter to 'free':
At this point, the proposal line featuring make-good spots can be [Applied] and then approved by making right-click on the proposal line and using the 'Approve changed data row' option; after which, the proposal line will be available for scheduling (e.g. from the Air Sales Scheduler).

Invoicing Make-Good Spots
Once make-good spots are scheduled, they can be included in invoices (if preliminary settings are correctly set) by using the Air Sales > Invoicing module which allows to generate invoices either manually or automatically:
Invoices containing make-good spots will allow customers to review and be sure that all purchased spots ran as expected and make-good spots are fulfilled.
