59.8.1.2 Status bar

The Monitoring Console provides a wide range of functions to monitor the status of an Etere system in real time; some of these are continuously executed in the background (as independent threads) to provide essential information through the status bar of the monitoring console. The background function in question is the Monitoring Console.SNMP Real-time Checking

The real-time checking function checks the reception of application heartbeats. See Monitoring SNMP Messages.

This function will be displayed only if enabled in the SNMP menu > Settings > General section.

NB: The SNMP would send the first heartbeat when subscribing to a process and at each refresh subscription. If the "Livecheck" of the process could not be determined after three attempts, the process entry would be deleted from SNMP in order not to send spam messages.

Processes monitor
The processes monitor function checks and send SNMP messages to report "workflow loops", "SQL agent failures", and "SQL service broker failures".

This function will be displayed only if at least one of the parameters in the SNMP menu > Settings > Processes monitor section is enabled.

Check pingable devices from this console.
The check pingable devices function checks that all pingable devices (i.e. all the resources that have the property pingable=yes) successfully respond to the ping requests sent by the current computer, raising an SNMP error for each missed answer.
This function is visible only if enabled under the SNMP menu > Settings > Resources monitor section.

Collect and check PC Counters.
The System Information function (set in the System Information > Counters section) collects and checks the counters of all pingable Etere PCs, sending an SNMP message in case detected values are outside the allowable ranges.

By double-clicking on the icon, it will be possible to gain access to the log file (config.Res.MonitoringConsole.log) containing all the detected counters. The information gathered will also be available through the detailed System Information report.

This function is visible only if enabled under the SNMP menu > Settings > Resources monitor section.

GPI
The GPI function activates and deactivates GPI signals when receiving messages matching the SNMP filters.

This function will be displayed only if at least one filter has been set to use a GPI of the current computer; this is under the SNMP menu > Settings > SNMP Filters > GPI section.
For each monitoring function, the current execution status and subsequent execution remaining time will be displayed.

In case of an error during a specific monitoring function, the application will inform this issue through an error icon and message:

NB: All operations performed by the functions specified in this chapter are logged in the config.Res.MonitoringConsole.log file within the Etere logs folder.
