59.8.2.25 View SNMP messages

SNMP messages can be consulted through the View SNMP messages function, which can be accessed in any of the following ways to provide a detailed list of all messages received from a specific resource:

• Contextual function: Select a resource and right-click on it, then select "View SNMP messages".
• Side tab: Click on the "SNMP Messages" side tab, select a resource, right-click on it, and select the "View SNMP messages" function.

The "SNMP Messages" side tab provides a vertical view of all resources, pointing out all their eventual messages. Please note that this tab will be available only if the SNMP data (server and database) has been correctly set in the Resource Editor > Options > Configure SNMP connection

Resources having SNMP messages received by the SNMP Console will be pointed out with an error icon (red circle with white cross)

Once the "View SNMP messages" function is called, a small window will be displayed listing all SNMP messages available for the selected resource, specifying for each one of them the following details:

Message details
Type - Specifies the message content: Information, a Warning, an Error or Unknown data.
Device - Shows the IP (or the name) of the device from which the message has arrived.
Date - Indicates the date and time the messages have been received.
Description - Gives information about who and why the message has been sent.
Error code - Provides the exact code of the issue to which the message is related.
Sender - The module from which the message comes.
Status - Tells if the message is either archived or not.
Station - It indicates the station that triggered the SNMP messages.

Filters
Displayed messages can be narrowed by using the following available filtering parameters:
Message Type - Display only the type of messages (information, warning, error, unknown) that have been checked.
Period - Filter the messages shown based on the time they were sent (today, last week, last month, last three months, last six months, etc.).
View - Show only archived, not archived messages or both of them.
Order - Indicate the sort criteria of the list.
Other - Set an option to show the device name instead of the IP address.

Contextual functions
SNMP messages displayed here can be managed through the following functions:
Open (Double click): Making a double click on a message will display a full-detailed table regarding its general info (i.e. receipt time, sent time, community, trap, state, UID), user info (i.e. computer name, IP address, login name, owner app) and message info (i.e. severity, installation site, code, description, user station).
Delete (DEL): Definitively removes the selected message from the database.
Archive (CTRL-X): Set the selected message as "archived", thus removing it from the list of messages and allowing a more organized view of non-archived messages.
Select all (CTRL-A): Mark all displayed messages (e.g. for being batch deleted or archived).
Select all: Unmark all displayed messages.

NB: During the processes Live Check, if a process does not return "Alive" after receiving 3 SNMP errors, the process entry would be removed from the Monitoring Console to avoid sending SNMP spam messages to the console.
