202.7.4.6 Explode/Implode Events

All events managed within an Etere system came with nine EDL (edit decision lists) that hold the list(s) of instructions that defines the program, including insertion points (simple breakpoints), video faults (black video), garbage video (defective video), and visible segments (video free of limitations).
EDL instructions are used to explode events within schedules into different segments to allow more precise scheduling (e.g. insert commercials into an event). Please refer to the Asset Timecode and Segments section of the Media Library chapter for more information about asset's EDL.

Explode

Explode all break points defined in the EDL [F8] - Explode the event based on all the -real- points defined within its EDL n.1. In case
more than one EDL version is found, the operator will be asked to select one to be used.
This explosion method is suggested for all events having a valid EDL.

NB: This method do not preserve the live channel set for the event, it uses the asset's one.

Explode into custom parts [CRTL-R] - Explode the event into a number of parts defined by the user, parts will be inserted across the immediate next 'n' segments (the duration of each part will be the same as the free space of the segment on which it has been exploded).

NB: This method is suggested for "live" events; it will preserve the live channel set for the event.

Divide according to the duration - Exploded the event according to the duration of the target blocks, they will be divided into many segments as required for filling the block segments.
This explosion method is suggested for events without an EDL.

Implode

Implode [CRTL-I] - In order to implode an event that is currently exploded into the schedule, right-click on any of its exploded parts and select the "Explode/Implode > Implode" option.

Note: In case the exploded event is a LIVE event, it will be possible to modify the duration of its various exploded parts by using the Change LIVE Events Scheduled Duration tool (Ctrl+K).

Note: Exploded parts are inserted into the schedule in sequential basis (part1, part2, part3 and so on). In case the position of these parts is changed after the
explosion a proper icon will indicate the "out of sequence position of an exploded part" (see icons legend).

Note:
In case of using ad insertion networks, all implode/explode actions performed in the main network are replicated in the regional networks and vice-versa.
