In case the media server used for ingest has with "streaming" capabilities Etere Ingest allows using assets even before their ingest stage is completed.
It's worthy mentioning that immediately after an asset starts being ingested, the ingesting file is added to the asset form's media, thus making it available for being used as a normal already-ingested file.
Preparing the streaming ingest
In order to perform "streaming ingest" operations, the following parameters must be previously configured:
The "streaming" property
In order to perform an "streaming ingest", the first thing to do consists on enabling the "streaming" property of the asset to be ingested, it can be done either automatically or manually:
Automatically - In Etere Ingest > Parameters, enable the " Set all ingesting assets as streaming" option to make all assets to be set as "streaming" as soon as they start being ingested.
In Etere Ingest > Parameters, enable the " Set main-backup ingesting assets as streaming" option to make all assets to be set as "streaming" as soon as they start being ingested simultaneously on a main and a backup server.
Manually - In Easy Ingest or Multifunction Ingest, before/during an ingest operation it is possible to make right-click on the asset code bar and use the "set as streaming" option to make the current asset to be "streaming" during their entire recording stage. Please note that this function allows only settings assets as "streaming", to set them back to normal it will be necessary to do it from the media library.
In Etere Media Library > Secondary events, set the asset "on-air event" property to "streaming" in order to enable its streaming capabilities during a future ingest operation.
The "streaming" T-workflows
Before starting the ingest, it is possible to set a T-workflow to be launched by Etere Data Mover (e.g. to transfer the ingesting file to another server). T-workflows can be launched either automatically or manually:
Automatically - It will be launched -as soon as the streaming ingest starts- the T-workflow set in the Etere Configuration > Configuration Editor > T-Workflow > Default T-workflows section under the "workflow to be launched when a streaming ingest operation starts" parameter. In case that T-workflow has not been set, the T-workflow set under the "workflow to be launched when an ingest operations ends" parameter will be launched.
Manually - In Etere Media Library > Workflows, attach and launch the T-workflow to be executed for transferring in streaming the currently ingesting file.
Using the streaming ingest
Once the "stream ingest" starts, the ingesting file will be immediately available for being played by Etere Automation.
Note: "Streaming ingest" operations can be used along with "streaming copies" to, for example, render files immediately available on a MTX playout server even while ingesting them on the MTX ingest server. For detailed information on this Etere MTX feature please refer to the "Streaming Copies" chapter.
