Under the Data Manager section are defined the specific T-workflow actions launched via T-workflow to request the Etere Data Mover application to perform a specific media task (i.e. data transferring, media transcoding); workflow actions created under this section can be either Copy or Transcoding actions, as shown below and explained throughout this chapter:
Etere media actions
Copy actions - Transfer media files from one device to another without transcoding.
Transcoding actions - Encode/decode media files, usually transferring converted files into specific devices.
MTX actions - Create activities able to handle (e.g., read and write) some of the most important properties of media files (e.g., their codec).
Power Tools - Execute -via T-workflow- custom power shell scripts automatically.
Rules Editor - Define custom file names for a file stored in destination folders.
Advanced Quality Check - The T-workflow action performs a quality check on assets; you can check the consistency and integrity of the assets.
Supported Runtime Variables - It supports retrieving asset data during runtime and renaming transcoded files.
Delete Actions - Enable the user to delete metafiles from the designated folder.
3rd-party integration actions
Alias integration - Used to interface with VIACOM's Alias system.
Aspera integration - Used to request -via T-workflow- the execution of file transfers based on Asphera jobs for media files stored on Etere meta devices.
Avid integration - Used to long-term archive complete projects from Avid into Etere cloud devices and restored them when required.
Baton integration - Used to request -via T-workflow- the execution of verification tasks based on Baton test plans for media files stored on Etere meta devices.
Certify integration - Used to request -via T-workflow- the execution of file content verification/check to detect a broad spectrum of issues that may affect your media's quality, compliance, and playability before transmission or use.
Digimetrics integration - Enable creation of T-workflow action based on Aurora test plans to verify media files stored on the Etere meta device.
Signiant integration - Used to request -via T-workflow- the execution of file transfers based on Signiant jobs for media files stored on Etere meta devices.
Tivoli - Tivoli is a storage management software for backup and recovery. The integration enables the user to manage file transfer via T-workflow action.
Vantage integration - Used to request -via T-workflow- the execution of file transfers based on Vantage jobs for media files stored on Etere meta devices.
Important Notes:
1. It is a good practice not to delete and re-copy the same file after it has been inserted into the system. A new file version with a different filename should be created and uploaded to the system.
2. When the Copy action is executed for file transfer in the same source and destination paths, the action will be aborted if an old file version is detected.
3. Upon configuring the Data Mover action, you must refresh the Data Mover configuration to ensure that changes are applied accordingly in the configuration before executing the Data Mover action.
NB: From Etere version 31.2 or later, if an error occurred while updating the database, three attempts would be made to resume the update operations with a 20-second interval before the existing error. If the files to be copied exist in the database, the database is updated. The database is updated if the deleted files do not exist in the database.
Note:
Please note that DataMover actions (copy or transcoding) need to be inserted within a T-workflow (as an action block) to be executed by Etere Data Mover, the module responsible for receiving all media requests. Detailed information on how to use this module (e.g. functioning, management, monitoring, logs, etc.) can be found in the Etere Data Mover chapter.
