Commercial and Object Archive

80.1.1 Object Archive

The Etere Object Archive application allows you to create a tape media of any asset which have a video file stored into a certain Videoserver. Object Archive uses the Query Manager tool to search and select which video objects you want to archive in a fully customized way.
First of all, Commercial Archive must be configured, thus by going to the Archive Parameters module also found in the Object Reel module, once parameters are correctly set, just follow the next procedure:

1.Selecting Video Files to be Recorded
To select the videos you wish to archive to tape, a query must be run to extract the relevant data from the database.  These queries are user-defined and can be saved as custom queries if required.  For information on how to run a query go to the 24. Etere Query Manager chapter of the Etere's User-Guide.

In the above example, a 'testing query' was run for all assets with types are either a 'Clip' or a 'COM'.  From this list you can then select which assets you wish to record onto tape by making double click on them.
An asset can only be recorded onto tape if the relevant media is available and exists in the videoserver. At the bottom of this Asset List window the following information can be found:

•Selected assets: Details how many assets have been selected from the list to be recorded.

•Total duration: Calculation of the total duration of the chosen assets to be recorded.

•Remaining Space: Details on how much time is left on the tape.  If the duration of the assets to be recorded is less than the length of the tape in the bottom right hand corner a green text box is evident informing you that there is 'Still available space' on the tape.

To the left of the window under Tape Info you can find the Tape Name.  This is automatically generated.  The prefix refers to the Query name (e.g. TEST) and the numbers represent the tape number.  For the first tape media that is performed the number is 0001 is allocated, the second 0002 etc.  The available space is set up in the Archive Parameters configuration under 'Tape Duration'.

2.Archiving Video Files
To start recording simply press 'Start'. The Object Archive Recorder window now appears listing which videos are to be recorded, the existence of any spacers or blacks (previously configured), the source device, the destination device and if enabled, a character generator:

During the recording process to the bottom right of the screen it shows a reminder of the total duration, how many videos are still left to record and the time remaining until completion.  At any point you can manually press stop to break the recording.

3.REPORTS
The Print section allows you to view and also print a report containing information of the last job done (the number refers to the previous tape number), by clicking on the Labels button you can also print the tape labels of the current recording.
