59.2.15 Media Formats

In this section, it sets the configuration parameters related to specific tape formats; double-click on a tape format to set the following fields:
Media_Formats

Name - The descriptive name for the media format
Code -odews the media format code, which is not editable. A checking mechanism has been in place to prevent duplication; entering an existing media format code is not allowed.
Description - Enter a brief description of the media format.
Change icon - Change the default icon assigned to the media format.
Type - Indicate if the media type is a data tape, video disk, audio tape or videotape. According to the type selected the other options described here will change.
Duration - Specify the duration of the media format in minutes (available for video tape and video disk types).
Capacity - Specify the capacity of the media format in MB, GB or TB (available for data tape and audio tape types).
Don't consider media smaller than - This option, specifies the minimum size that files must have to be included in the media space calculation. File size below this value would be ignored (e.g. from the Racks module). This value can be expressed in minutes (in case of video tape and video disk types) or in Bytes/KB/MB (in case of data tape and audio tape types).
Space to be left free at the end of the tape - Indicate the free space to be kept at the end of the tape. This option is available only for data tape and audio tape types.
Read-only - If enabled, ALL tapes belonging to the selected media format are "Read Only".
Use virtual deletion - If disabled (default), tapes deleted from the Tape Library using the "delete tape" function will be definitively removed from the database.
If enabled, deleted tapes will remain in the database for reference only; they will be accessible only from the Tape Library through the "search also deleted" search filter.

Space calculation on HSM
Each time Etere HSM plans a scheduled archive operation, it calculates the space available on a tape by summing its free space, reserved space and space-to-left-free, and if the space is less than the required space, the tape will be excluded.
