Action Description
The Cloud Balancing action allows the spread of a specific action (e.g. video file copy) across two or more linked actions.
Action Parameters
The fields to be compiled when creating the action are detailed below:
•Name: Enter a title for the action (e.g. 'copy-process distribution'),
•Number of exits: Specify the number of outputs (actions among which the work will be spread),
•Memory reset interval: The time limit after which the 'balancing policy' will be reset to its initial value.
•Balancing policy: Is the method to decide which output will be selected; there are four types:
•Random: the final output will be decided without any definite rule or prearranged order,
•Round-Robin balanced: will rotate the outputs, selecting them systematically,
•Asset Duration balanced: each output will have a value (initially set to 0). this value will be continuously incremented (every time the output is selected) with the duration of the processed assets, so the next time, the "Cloud Balancing" will automatically select the output with the lesser value and so on.
•Live Queued Duration balanced: the output will be decided based on the queued order. The output will be chosen in a way that balances items that are being processed.
How to use it
The following picture illustrates how to perform a "cloud balancing" between a video server with three nodes; you can create a "Cloud Balancing" action with three outputs and three copying vdcp blocks (one for each output) associated with it, then the "Cloud Balancing" action will route (statically) the copy process between the three nodes.
