Media Library

59.2.16.1 General

The general tab consists of the following parameters:

Parameters
•Media codes filled by zeros on the left: Media codes will automatically be assigned zeros to the left of the code to 'fill' the field.
•Automatic creation of Media: if enabled, each time an asset form is created, a tape media will be automatically created and associated with it. Once this option is enabled, the 'Media Properties' parameters (which are also explained in this chapter) will become active in the right panel of this section.
•Auto save time interval (sec): enter the time interval; the asset form will be saved automatically after the interval.
•Update schedule after changes: If enabled, each time an asset is modified (e.g. duration, timecodes, etc.), a popup message would be displayed on all the broadcast schedules (i.e. Executive Editor) where the asset is featured; it allows the operator to apply the changes to the broadcasting schedule.
•Assign the EDL description with F2 and F8: in Executive Editor, pressing F2 'Explodes all hypothetical segments' and F8 'Explodes all break points' would create segments.  If enabled, the segments would be assigned with the description as detailed in the asset's EDL.  If disabled, the description is taken from the asset form's main description.
•Show 'Versions' in EDL management:  Enabled this option to visualise and use the different EDL versions created
•Load the thumbnail automatically: Enable this parameter to show the thumbnail automatically.  To speed up the asset search function in the Media library, you might want to disable this option to bypass the thumbnail acquisition process during the asset search.
•Force logical SOM-EOM different from physical: if enabled, assets must have different logical and physical values for  SOM and EOM; if these values are set equally (e.g. in case no marks have been set for the asset) warning message would be prompted from any of the following modules:
- Media Library: Each time an asset is saved.
- Executive Editor: Each time a scheduled asset is updated using either the update duration or the update duration and secondary events functions.
•Minimum quality level: Specify the minimum value from 0 (default) to 9 for a quality check.
If the quality check is not performed for an asset (i.e. its QC value is lower than the setting), no warning message would be displayed (about the equality of its physical SOM and EOM) during the scheduling phase.
•Allow editing by all stations: All stations users are allowed to edit the asset if enabled.
•Maximum thumbnail dimensions: this allows the user to define the maximum thumbnail dimensions.
•Maximum code length: allows the user to define the maximum length of the asset code in digits.  The maximum permitted length is set at 32 characters.
•EDL saving path: Specify the way to save the playlist (.asx), the related thumbnails (.jpg), and the plain playlist (.xml) of the asset's EDL segments. The format used to save the files is [ID]_[E/S]_[n], where:
- [ID]: is the ID of the asset.
- [E/S]: indicates if the file is related to the entire EDL (E) or the visible segments (S).
- [n]: the number related to either the EDL version (if specified E) or the segment ID (if specify S)
NB: The files mentioned above are created each time an asset is saved if the asset has a valid EDL and a linked proxy file; The files would be deleted if the linked proxy file is removed from the asset's linked media list.
•MXF conforming work path: specify the temporary mxf conforming files path.  If left blank, the temporary mxf files will be sent to the local ETERE directory.
•Aspect Ratio: This allows to set the default aspect ratio to display the asset ingested manually.
•Always use the extended form when creating assets: If enabled, the Extended Asset Creation form would be enabled for compiling new asset forms, including all relevant properties (e.g. type, supplier, expiry, classification, etc.) of the asset to be created.
•Show forms in the taskbar: If enabled, the forms will be displayed in the windows taskbar, besides the Etere module (e.g. Etere Scheduling, Etere Air Sales, etc.) and the specific opened applications (e.g. Media Library, Season Manager, Statistics, etc.); If disabled, only main modules are displayed in the windows taskbar.
•EPG maximum length: Specify the maximum number of characters for the asset's EPG fields. The maximum length of characters can be set to 400. In the EtereWeb asset form, you can enter up to 4000 characters on the EPG field and view the content in a desktop application.
•Automatically update code and title on schedules: if enabled, each time an asset is saved, its changed code and title would be automatically updated across all its future (not already aired) performances to reflect the changes.
If disabled, it would be required to use the "update code and title across schedules" from the media library to update the code and title.
•Carry out 2 copies on import operations: The Media Library's import functions will allow transferring the imported file to a second destination (without registering it into the database).
•Use TC in proxy preview: If enabled, the timecode displayed by the EDL list and Proxy player would be calculated, considering the logical offset eventually available for files.
•Mandatory fields check: If enabled, it allows to toggle mandatory Flexi-metadata under the "Flexi-metadata Editor".
•Videofile import default path: Set default destination path when importing video file.

Media Properties
This area is available if the 'Automatic creation of Media' parameter has been activated; define the following information:
•Tape Type: specify the tape type (master, copy, etc.).
•Type: specify the media type (digital beta, DVC PRO 50, etc.).
•VTR Info: input all relevant VTR information.
•Framerate: indicate the tape framerate.

Search configuration
Specify how to save the filters used during asset searches. Available behaviours include:
Never: Save filters only in the windows registry (i.e. for each logged-in user).
By user: Save filters in the database for each Etere user.
For everyone: Save filters in the database for all Etere users.

Render to Video Card
Select the video and audio device to be used when rendering the archived copy to the video card.

Parameters
Save Flexi metadata on edit: Enable this option to save changes made to Flexi metadata.
Update the schedule on type change: When an asset is modified in Media Library, enable this option to propagate the asset changes to the schedule in Executive Editor.  If this option is disabled, changes made to the assets would only be applied to the asset in Media Library.
Edit Flexi metadata on new asset form: While creating the new asset form, enable this option to edit the Flexi-metadata fields in the asset form.
Etereinfo: read and merge ETX FileInfo: When executing Etere Fileinfo, enable this option to read and merge the data processed in the ETX FileInfo action.  Otherwise, the FileInfo process would adhere to Data Mover's MediaInfo action settings.
