18.4.1 ETX-M Converter

Login to Etere Web from the workstation and access APP Settings in System > User Preferences.

ETX-M converter settings display the list of servers where the service is installed. You can select any server and start configuring the conversion settings.

Parameter Description

• Apply and restart: Apply the last saved configuration and restart the processes. Only those processes modified and saved in the configuration XML ("Etere.Service.AVConverter.XML") would be restarted.


Process

 Process visible: Set the visibility mode of the process preview window (True / False) during the configuration process. You can set it to invisible mode to save CPU usage or set it to visible mode during problem-solving.
 Process ID: Progressive header number of the process, generated by the Add / Remove function. it can be turned ON and OFF by clicking on the dedicated button.
 Remove/Add: Add or remove a stream conversion. When adding a new stream conversion, a new process ID header is generated, and a blank form of conversion settings is displayed to fulfil the configuration of the new stream conversion.
 Save the changes in configuration, but do not apply the changes. The Save function needs to be triggered when changes are made to the design; otherwise, the changes will not apply when executing the Apply and Restart functions.
 Process Description: Manually enter the name of the process to be created.


Source

 Type: Select NDI or MPLink (more options will be available in future). This is the video renderer to be converted to IP format.
 Video Input: Select the NDI stream name to be converted. When selecting the NDI source, only the NDI source configured in the URL column in Resource Configuration would be displayed.
 Bandwidth: Select an appropriate bandwidth.


Destination

 Video Format: Select the video format from the drop-down list.
 File format: Select an output format for streaming.
 Service Name: Manually input the name of the service to be received by the encoder. Press the Enter key to confirm the settings. The set name will be displayed in the process window if set as visible.
 Audio Format: Select the audio format from the drop-down list.
• URL: Set the URL where the NDI signal would be streamed. The URL format must follow the selected protocol (e.g. UDP, RTMP, SRT, DVB, etc.).


Video

 Video format: Select an encoding type (e.g. NVENC, H264, H265, Intel Quick Sync, etc).
 Bit rate (b/s): Select a bit rate from the list or manually input the value. Press the Enter key to confirm the settings.
 Frame rate: Select a frame rate from the list and press Enter key to confirm the selection.
 Video size: Select a video size from the list or manually input the video size. Press the Enter key to confirm the settings.
 Aspect ratio: Select an aspect ratio from the list or manually input the value. Press the Enter key to confirm the settings.


Audio

 Audio format: Select an audio format from the list and press Enter key to confirm the selection.
 Sample rate (Hz): Set the value as 44100 or 48000.
 Loudness:  Enable / Disable the loudness correction (True / False).
 Bitrate: Input the value expressed in K and press the Enter key to confirm, e.g. 192K = 192000.
 Target: Set the loudness target in –Db.


Custom

 Value: Insert the custom values of streaming strings and press the Enter key to confirm (ex. muxrate='2M').


Once the settings are confirmed, click the Save icon in the Process ID field to save all settings. Any old stream previously configured but no longer present in EtereWeb would not be saved in the XML file.

You can continue to add more services for each NDI signal to be converted.

When all settings are completed, click the Apply and Restart button to apply the configurations and restart (only) the modified processes triggered by the Etere AVConversion service.


Additional notes:

1. From Etere 34.2, ETX-M Converter Service can be started by either a domain user or a Local System account.
If the service is started by a domain user:
- logs are saved in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Etere\Log
- the configuration file XML "Etere.Service.AVConverter.XML" is saved in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Etere
If the service is started by a Local System account:
- logs are saved in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Etere\log
- the configuration file XML "Etere.Service.AVConverter.XML" is saved in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Etere

2. If the Process visible parameter is set to True, the preview will be available on the server.

No preview would be available if the Process visible parameter is set to False.

3. In Task Manager, you can view the number of streaming processes, one process for each stream configured.

4. The ETX-M Converter settings are only visible if the logged-in user account is assigned with both Web\Supervisor rights and Base\System Admin rights.
