Enabling the "Bundle Assets Mode" option allows you to ingest "bundle assets" into Etere through a watch folder through the following process:
1. A folder (e.g. \DubZ2015) is copied into the main path (i.e. \\mfiles\watchfolder\)
2. The main path is scanned to detect sub-folders and all files in sub-folders.
Note: Files in the root of the main path are ignored.
3. A new asset is created to hold the files in the sub-folder (e.g. \DubZ2015), featuring the following properties:
• Code: Based on the "Etere Codes Rules" (e.g. PROJ40237)
• Title: Sub-folder name (e.g. \DubZ2015)
4. All files in the main path and sub-folders would be processed and linked to the new asset as a single metafile with the same codec (e.g. PRJ).
Note: Files with particular extensions (user-defined) will be excluded.
5. Every file is processed through the following sequence:
i. The file is physically renamed with a unique ID, preserving the original extension (e.g. 02BD00000000000008C2.mxf)
ii. The renamed file is moved to the main path (e.g. \\mfiles\watchfolder\)
iii. The file's original relative path is kept in the database (e.g. \DubZ2015\Video\)
iv. The file's original filename is kept in the database (e.g. Sim2015_720p)
6. Once all files are processed and linked, the sub-folders (which became empty after all file movements) will be deleted.
7. As a result, all files will be stored in the root directory of the main path.
8. When a new sub-folder is added to the main path, the entire process is repeated to synchronize and link the file to the asset.
In addition, ActiveSync provides two parameters for better management of the Bundle Asset:
Eventual subfolder of the path, where to look for to unpack .zip: This parameter helps track the bundle asset ".zip" file in the File System; you can define a subfolder for storing the bundle asset "zipped" file and separate it from the bundle assets, which are always attached to the root folder.
In this case, you can quickly locate the bundle asset zipped files in the sub-folder and archive them if they are no longer required.
Eventual path, where to create a Bundle Asset backup: This parameter allows you to create a backup way for storing the bundle assets in the file system. Click the browse button to select a destination path to save the bundle assets.
Important Notes:
• In the subfolder, if the number of files in bundled asset exceeds the defined value set in the "Maximum number of files to manage" parameter in Etere Configuration > Settings > Media Asset Management > MAM parameters, an error message would be logged in ActiveSync log and the subfolder would not be synchronized in the destination server.
• Due to physical constraints in a database table, the maximum number of characters in the "path" field (including the file name and extension) is limited to 255.
• For unique characters, ActiveSync can read any special character available for Windows application handles and objects when creating bundle assets or file renaming.
