The most common playback functions are available in the bottom part of the preview area, this series of buttons includes:
Play / Pause: If paused, starts playing the media from the current timeline slider position
If playing, temporarily stops the playback

Step -1: Shifts the playback backward of one frame. In case the "Step+1 with audio" option is enabled, also the audio will be backwarded.

Step +1: Shifts the playback forward of one frame. In case the "Step+1 with audio" option is enabled, also the audio will be forwarded.

Go to SOM: Moves the playback indicator to the mark-in specified in the EDL

Go to EOM: Moves the playback indicator to the mark-out specified in the EDL

Go to start: Moves the playback indicator to the first frame of the clip

Go to end: Moves the playback indicator to the last frame of the clip

Jog & Shuttle: Clicking on the "Jog / Shuttle" area allows to alternate between:
Jog - Drag the indicator either to the left or right to play the media at variable positive or negative speed respectively.
Shuttle- Change the playback speed by moving the cursor across the bar, thus making go slower or faster
Please note that the mouse scroll-wheel can be used for jog/shuttle.
Note: In Windows 10, you must turn off the “Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them” option, otherwise it won't be possible to use the mousewheel to set the shuttle.

Timeline slider: Freely position the playback just by dragging and dropping the indicator (the playback will be paused).

Counter: Shows the exact playback timecode of the previewed media.

Accurate slider: Make the timeline slider (which is initially is related to the entire media duration) to be related only to an interval of 60 seconds (i.e. current point +/- 30 seconds), thus allowing a more precise preview.
This function is useful to, for example, preview too long video files for which placing the time slider at the right point becomes difficult.

Aspect Ratio: Displayed in the upper right, it will indicate the video aspect ratio of the current proxy media
Available for: EP ; DS ;
Video Standard: Indicates if the standard of video used by the station is either PAL or NTSC.
Available for: EP ; DS ; QT ;
Preview: Playback the proxy file only from the SOM mark-in to the EOM mark-out.
Pressing this button is required to preview subtitles.

Balance: Balance the audio between left and right channels
Available for: EP ; DS ; WMP ; QT ;
NB: If the clip has been modified, save the changes made to the clip for the control keys to work properly.
