 • Local Area Network •
Computer network that covers a limited geographic area, such as an office, building, studio, or campus. Commonly known as LAN; devices within a LAN are typically connected using switches. The LAN may be connected to external networks such as the Internet through routers. LANs provide high-speed communication and allow local devices to share data and resources

 • Legal Recording •
Also known as AirCheck, it's a process in which transmitted programs are recorded to provide stations with a copy of the broadcast for legal archiving purposes and for internal demonstration or review. Etere provides legal recording capabilities through its Memory module

 • Lightbox •
Term that usually refers to a shopping-cart–like area where users can store lists of assets they may want to download, review, or use later. EtereWeb provides a lightbox area where each operator can manage a personal list of favorite assets, enabling quick operations such as opening, previewing, saving to the list, and removing items

 • Line •

 • Live •
Program that is broadcast as it is being delivered (e.g. a live report), performed (e.g. a live concert or show), or captured (e.g. live news or sports coverage). Etere allows to schedule, transmit, and ingest live programs both manually and automatically

 • Log •
Record providing details about the functioning and current state of certain operations. All Etere modules generate detailed logs where all operations, successful or failed, are detailed

 • Long GOP •
Video compression method based on a GOP (Group of Pictures) structure. The first frame of each group is an I-frame, a stand-alone image, while the following frames are P-frames (Predicted) and B-frames (Bidirectional), which store only spatial and motion differences relative to the other frames in the group. Long GOP formats include XDCAM HD, HDV, AVCHD, and others

Term commonly used, along with or lo-res, to refer to video formats that offer lower image detail and pixel count than their contemporary high-resolution counterparts. File extension such as .wmv, .mp4, and others are commonly associated with lo-res files. Etere offers automatic generation of lo-res content during the capture of hi-res material as well as robust browsing features, enabling low-res files to be used during browsing processes and production-related processes

 • Lower thirds •
Graphic elements placed in the title-safe area in the lower portion of the screen. Also known as chyrons, they are commonly used to display information such as breaking news, program titles, upcoming shows, promotions, and advertising messages. Etere allows the management of commercial lower thirds through commercial orders, enabling precise scheduling control and invoicing
