This chapter explained how to configure the execution of the conversion profiles required for previewing ingested assets by enabling either the triggering of GPI signals combinations or the use of embedded ARC capabilities.
Internally (Embedded conversions)
In case the GPI-triggered conversion is disabled, the following video servers will natively perform aspect ratio conversions required for the preview:
ingest_-_parameters
•MTX: The conversion will be automatically performed by the server.
•TNT: An [ARC] button will be available in the Easy and Multifunction Ingest to manually trigger the conversion.
Instead, if the GPI-triggered conversion is enabled, the conversion will be externally performed, as explained below.
Externally (GPI-triggered conversions)
Etere Ingest allows configuring GPI signal combinations to trigger (e.g. on an external device) the ARC profiles that will convert the aspect ratio of a media for previewing ingested assets. This feature can be enabled and configured under the Etere Ingest > Parameters > General 4 section as described in the following instructions:
1. Enable the "Activate ARC" option and click the [Configure] button to start adding ARC profiles to the conversion table:
Activate_ARC
2. A setup form will open, allowing to set the following data:
setup_form
Conversion table - The conversion table contains all the ARC profiles enabled to be executed through GPI signals combinations. To configure a new ARC profile, press the [+] button and set the following data:
Setup
Code - Specify the code of the ARC profile to be enabled for GPI-triggering. All the Default ARC Profiles supported by Etere are listed.
GPI - Select the combination of the signal to trigger the execution of the ARC profile.
Once it's done, press the [Add] button to insert the profile in the conversion table. Repeat the previous instructions to continue adding more ARC profiles as required.
NB: To be used, GPI boards must be assigned to the current user for "ingest".
Default configuration - Set the signal combination to be triggered by default if none of the configured conversions is selected.
Preroll - Optionally, set the advance (in frames) with respect to the preview with which GPI signals should be triggered.
Pulse mode - Optionally, set the duration (in frames) with which the GPI signals will be sent.
3. Once GPI signals combinations are configured, it is possible to (optionally) enable the "Ask for aspect ratio when an ingest operation starts" option to prompt the user for the media's aspect ratio each time before starting a new ingest.
4. Press the [Apply] button to confirm the settings. The Easy Ingest and Multifunction Ingest modules will allow selecting and using only profiles configured here.
Selecting ARC profiles
The Easy Ingest and Multifunction Ingest modules allow viewing and setting the ARC profiles to convert media (e.g. for previewing ingested assets). The Aspect Ratio button allows selecting profiles depending on the following criteria:
Multifunction Ingest
GPI-triggering : enabled - Displayed profiles : Only profiles configured in the Etere Ingest > Parameters > General 4 > Activate ARC section.
GPI-triggering: disabled - Displayed profiles: All profiles supported in the Etere Configuration > Settings > ARC section.
Moreover, if the ingesting asset has an ARC profile (assigned in the media library), it will be loaded if configured for GPI triggering. Otherwise (if not configured), a warning message will indicate its unavailability.
Please note that conversion profiles are automatically set in the asset's video properties (Media Library > Properties > Video).
