License verification
In order to be used, Etere Backup VTR requires a 'VTR for Playout' license, if you are not sure about the possession of this license or want to purchase it, feel free to contact the Etere's customer support team (supporto@etereu.com).
Configuration settings
Under the legacy Etere resources (i.e. Etere Configuration > Resources), select the VTR to be used for playout and set the following configurations:

•Click on the [Modify resources] button and make sure that the VTR Type is set to "PLAY".
•Click on the [Users] button and [Add] the "user" (e.g. michael) and "function" (i.e. scheduling) required for using the resource; additionally, set "com port" on which the VTR is available as well as the "router input" to which the VTR is connected.
Additionally, still under the Etere Configuration module, in the Settings > Executive Editor > Schedule parameters > Automation section, enabled the "Digital Devices and multiple VTRs" parameter.
Scheduling settings
In the Etere Executive Editor module, navigate to the "Show" menu and select the "VTR for manual playout" function, it will show up a VTR status bar, then, pressing the [Edit] button located on the Backup VTR panel, it will be possible to select up to three -previously configured- VTR's (BVW75 compatible) to be used for the playout:

Scheduled events
In order to be correctly transmitted from VTR, scheduled events must have under their asset media tab a "tape" with proper mark-in and mark-out timecodes.
Moreover, the Etere Object Reel module allows to prepare a set of "short event reels" which are commonly used for manual broadcasting in instances where automation cannot send commercials or short-length events on air due to technical issues.
For instance, as mentioned before, due to a fault in the videoserver or automation. In such a situation the Short Event Reel can be used to create video tapes to be used for manual broadcasting of commercials.
