Etere Censor EX Desktop Application

99.1.4.3 Censor Ex - Configuration - Backup

The Backup configuration tab is used to define the connection parameters for the backup Censor Player service and TimeDelay, providing redundancy and ensuring uninterrupted on-air operation.

The backup service is configured with the same type of information as the Main configuration, but it points to the secondary Censor Player instance running on a different workstation or server. Under normal operating conditions, the client communicates with the Main service. However, if the primary server becomes unavailable due to an unexpected failure or scheduled maintenance, the client can switch to the Backup service, ensuring continuous playout without interrupting the censorship workflow.

A proper backup configuration is strongly recommended for production environments where high availability and service continuity are required.

Best Practice: The Main and Backup services should be configured with identical settings (Time Delay parameters, encoding profiles, network paths, and output configuration) to guarantee a seamless transition between the two servers whenever a failover is required.
